Heart Surgery and Weight Lifting

My boyfriend is scheduled to have heart surgery. It's quite a shock to all of us because he works out. My question is, does anyone know someone who's been in this situation and how long they had to wait before they could get back to training? I'm not sure how long he'll be able to sit still after he recovers.
